The AWIS Mentoring project uses both attraction and retention. It is designed to integrate students into the scientific community. AWIS has over 3800 members nationwide. This includes men and women. AWIS received a 3-year grant from Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in 1990 for the development and enhancement of mentoring activities. This article includes a summary of the activities undertaken.
